Originally from Rhode Island, Kevin Gilmore received his BFA from Rhode Island College in 1999, with a concentration in collage and painting. Surface and patina are what Kevin Gilmore explores, through non- representational, grid-focused compositions heavily layered in paint that incorporate collage of found paper elements.  By virtue of symbol recognition, the incorporation of found text opens a wider dialogue between the image and the viewer.
