| Robot sculptures created by Gordon Bennett are made from a mixture of found objects which are both old and new. The parts are found in various places including garbage dumps, construction sites and garage sales. The materials are wood, metal, rubber, plastic and paint. They are inspired by Norman Bel Geddes and Raymond Loewy whose visions of the "Modern Age" helped shape industrial design of the 40's and 50's. Each robot is a unique one-of-a-kind sculpture with a numbered metal tag and takes about a month to build. The robots have been featured in publications in Australia, Italy, Russia, Great Britain, Germany, Holland and the U.S. Gordon Bennett studied art at Syracuse University where he received a BFA in Advertising & Design. He has been creating robot sculptures for about seven years. Robots are in private collections in the U.S., Great Britain, Germany and Japan. He has studios in Bridgehampton and Brooklyn, New York. |
